I am an advocate of index investing and wrote a few posts on the outcome of this strategy if one started during various points in the history:

1. The worst possible time ever, on the eve of the 2008 Global Financial Crisis (where the STI went on a 50+% drawdown in the months ahead).
2. Started investing in 2005 for a 10 year period, which includes both the GFC and Europe Crisis in 2008 and 2011 respectively
